People play by various rules, but here’s the most common rules I’ve played with.
Games are normally to 11, 15, or 21 points (whatever you agree on). Play as many games as you want.
If there is an error in service, the opponent gets a point.
Service normally changes only after a fixed number of points (we play 5 each side).
Serves must hit the paddle, then the server’s side of the table, and then the opponent’s side of the table. If the ball hits the net and lands on the opponent’s side, it’s called a ‘let’ and is treated as a re-do.
