I want to get a great college. Except I have mediocre grades in class. How will it affect my chances?
Hi, my name is Vikram Sethia. I’m from New Delhi
I really want to enter the Ivy League colleges.
Here are some of the details of my resume-
2250 SAT Reasoning- 800-M, 880-W, 650-CR
2300- SAT Subjects Maths 2C-800, Physics-750, Chemistry-750
Toefl iBT-112
CBSE 10th score-91.6%
Apart from that, I am a nationalist at badminton, golf and table tennis.
I have won several awards in debating and quizzing. I have been selected for the nationals in the CBSE Science Fair. I have my own comic strip in the local paper. I have won a writing prize at the national level, and am now working on my own novel.
Unfortunately, my marks in 11th and 12th have been pretty poor. I got only 71% in 11th and 57% in PCM. My overall aggregate was a lowly 68%, with 55% in PCM.
In my 12th half yearlies, I have got only 61% in PCM (65% overall.) I even flunked physics. What are my chances. Please help?
Unfortunately, you have no chance. Grades are the number one facor in ivy admission as they are the greatest predictor of college performance. Good scores alone–and your math plus CR is below average anyway–do not get anyone in. There is a ton of competition from India at every ivy and they know your system well, those who get in have very high marks.
