Does anyone have a table tennis conversion top?
What should I consider before buying one? Are they all basically the same?
I am just an amateur ping pong player.
Hi,
Last question first, table tennis conversion tops run in price range from the low $100′s to the mid $400′s. If you’re buying one on the Internet, or through mail-order, then you’ll have to pay at least $50 to get it delivered, but that fee will be more or less flat no matter what table tennis conversion top you’re buying. So, the first way they differ is in price.
Beyond that, you will want to consider how seriously a table tennis player you are; in your case it sounds like you are in the large category of amateurs, therefore I wouldn’t spend more than $250, unless you are fairly well off
One thing to look for is how thick is the conversion top. 1/2″ is normal; thicker than that generally means higher quality. Think about it: you want a sturdy table tennis top in order to hold up and create real bounces like a normal table.
What else?
Make sure you get one that fits your size pool table, most fit 7 to 8 feet tables.
Other than that, don’t be disconcerted if you start searching and there seems to be endless varieties of choices out there. Really, there’s a million different sellers selling table tennis conversion tops from just a handful of actual manufacturers.
