official table tennis rules service

By admin

In official table tennis what is the rule in regards to…?

1) Is there a limit to the amount of “lets” a server can have on one consecutive service?

2) If the server attempts to serve, misses the ball completely (no contact on the paddle)…is this a redo? or is a point for his opponnent?

Thanks, please use direct quotes from rule books if you can, but your hoenst answers are always appreciated.

1. there is no limits to the amount of ‘lets’ that a server can have. that is assuming the ‘lets’ you are talking abt is the ball hitting net during the service, meaning it first hits the server’s table, then the net, and also hits the reciever’s table. it must hit both sides of the table and the net to be able to have a re-serve of the ball.

2. if the server misses the ball completely during the serve, and he manages to catch the ball before it touches the table or the floor, he can reserve. if not it will be a point for the opponnent.
